In week 3 Veterans established their dominance, and The Master Champion is rising like a phoenix back to his trophy nest.
1.-Steven showed that, hands down, his team is not only a good draft team, but also, because of his one-year experience, is tactical sound. He has dramatically improved from his rookie year. Steven losing the first match against Flak3, not making any drastic changes, keeping all six he chose for this match, refining his tactics, and beating Flak 3 in the last two games shows a drastic improvement from UPFC II. Gholdengo’s bad performance by getting only 1 knockout (K) forced his number two draft pick, Haxorus, to step up, which he did, getting 5k. Maushold was also a problem for Flak3, fainting 5 of his Pokémon. Torkoal came off the bench getting a desperately needed 2K, Venomoth got his consistent 2, and Primeape’s only 1K was just enough to defeat Flak 3 in game 3. Steven’s next matchup is TT-Bone which would be a complete upset if he loses.
2.Barchun is coming back to fool form. This Master Champion has a whole lot left. Finding a win against Noah shows that he has again mastered the bond between trainer and Pokémon. Hawlucha almost had a perfect game, causing 11 Pokemon to faint with only 1 death. If you let Barchun tactically position Hawlucha, watch out for a breathtaking performance by the league's current league leader in faints. Brachun’s next matchup is Blxze, Barchun needs to win this game to stay in the playoffs. Though Blaze lacks the experience of the Veteran, you can’t sleep on this trainer, his Professor Oak-type knowledge of Pokemon is second to none.
3.Noah took the defending Master Champion to game three. His performance, up to now, has been impeccable. But Noah has a UPFC curse against Barchun. Not once in his UPFC career has he beaten this opponent, and in Week 3, it was no different. Noah’s substitutions of Dugtrio and Slowking may have been Noah’s demise. Though Slowking had an average performance of 2k and 2D, and dugtrio did shut down Ursluna. But, in the end, it wasn’t enough to tactically outplay Barchun’s Hawlucha. Noah’s next matchup is Billay. If he loses this one, it may change the landscape of Playoff prospects. This is a must-win for Noah.
4.Flak3 battling Steven, taking him to game 3 with only one Pokémon left, makes the whole league look at this trainer Pokémon bond. Could Flak3, previously known as R3no, be as good as he was in UPFC I? Can we see the rumblings of the old positive Trainer he once was before? Remember that this team is only missing two Pokémon form families from his original team in UPFC I, and he just took one of the most dominant trainers to one Pokémon left. His veteran Bossk proved he deserves to stay on his team with 5 knockouts; Bob Saget showed consistency once again with two; Koopa Jr. and Pika provided needed help with splitting 4 assists a piece. Aura Sing played well with 3 knockouts, but the most surprising was Olive, who took out 4 Pokémon. Flak3’s next opponent is isaac so he should win this and put his record back to even.
5. Billay vs RyeRyebguy showed the tactical proficiency and difference of the trainer Pokémon bond between the competitors. Lokix surprised RyeRyebGuy throughout the tournament. The tactics and decision-making Billay made with Lokix gave him the illusion of a Pokémon with a Basepoint average (BPA) of 600. Lokix collected 5k in the two-match series. At one point, Billay used a trick simultaneously with RyeRyebguy to maintain control of the match. Billay came well-prepared against a good trainer like Ryeryebguy. His next match-up is Noah, another tough matchup that if he wins will catapult him away from the middle of the pack.
6. The veteran TT-Bone took Blaze through a rope-a-dope, stalling the game as much as possible to outmaneuver Blaze. In game two he won in a controversial time-lapse and the second one adjusted his team to defeat Blaze powerhouse Pokémon like Rilaboom and Azumarill. Shamsiel and Obi-Wan had stunning performances laying the groundwork for a victory. Obi-wan got 4k/3d/2a while Shamsiel got 6k/2d/1a. TT-Bone’s next matchup is the up-and-coming undefeated Steven. TT-Bone has a shot to defeat him but will have to play a perfect game.
7. Blxze has a better then average team. He was able to take Noah to a game 3, Defeat Billay in a nailbiter, and took TT-Bone to game 3. Blxze has had the toughest matchups so far this season and each game he played he could of very possibly won. In order for him to climb up in the power rankings and possibly make the playoffs he must win against Barchun next week. Billaboom, Noivern, Auzimarril, all had strong performance. However, Obi-wan's jedi like powers was able to control the tempo. In order for him to win Blxze will have to become more tactically proficient with his team.
8. Ryeryebguy was stale like cold tea. Though brilliant strategically, was tactically outperformed against Billay during his matchup. The trick move that worked for him against Flak3 in game 1 and tricked Isaac didn’t work against Billay. Though stale, Ryeryebguy can find a new recipe that will be able to defeat his next matchup. Ryeryebguy isn’t out of recipes. But will have to win his next matchup against MrKumaD to stay hopeful and climb the power rankings.
9. MrKumaD received his first won series in UPFC history. As a rookie, this is a big achievement with not having any competitive experience in Pokémon before. Though the game against Isaac was won and only went to two games, it doesn’t mean it wasn’t close. Skeledrige consistently provided the Special Attack damage needed to succeed. Bombardier was the crucial peace needed, taking out Mighty twice with his super-effective dark moves. Combat Taurus also got his first kill in a series. The only two that didn’t perform well for him were his Gerninjia and Sunflora. But the other two contributing Bombirdier, Combat Taurus, and Scizor’s bullet punch were just enough to get over the hump against Isaac. MrKumaD’s next matchup is Ryeryebguy. This matchup will be a nailbiter, if MrKumaD beats Ryeryebguy it will certainly get him past the second to last spot.
10. Isaac was so close to getting his first win as a Rookie. This shows him to be like Billay, having the heart of a Pyroar! Isaac hasn’t even thought about quitting, especially when he has a Companion like Houndstone, who took out six Pokémon. The only thing that stopped this comeback hound was Mr. KumaD’s Scizor getting off a bullet punch each time to stop him. The question remains: will Incenaroar, who has yet to play in a game, become an asset for Isaac? Isaac’s next matchup is Flak3. Isaac’s goal should be to win one game in the series.
